29/102 10/13/06 11:35 AM Figure cut into chalk hillside

This is the Long Man of Wilmington in East Sussex, cut into the chalk in ancient times and maintained regularly. The outline has been replaced by white bricks to make maintenance easier. Made more modest by the well-meaning Victorians, the man used to display far more anatomy! Copyright SK Wood.
